Family Ceramic Class: Handbuilding

All ages Welcome!

This class will provide a space for families to create together! Students will prepare slabs of clay and templates for creating wind chimes, wall-hangings, plates, dishes, bowls and other slab-forms. Pieces will be decorated with colored underglazes and fired after the workshop with a clear glaze, unless specified. Pieces will be ready for pick-up up to a month after the workshop. As this class is taught outside (under our shade structure), it is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if needed.

• Classes will be charged at $40/participant (please make sure to include all participating kids & adults in your order) 
• Clay, tools, brushes & glazes will be included (pieces will be glazed by HC+K staff) 
• Class is limited to 16 participants (approx. 8 pairs of guardian & child) 
• Based on the physicality of the workshop and materials/tools used, we recommend kids 5 and up (send us an email if you have questions!)  
  

 Tentative Class Schedule: 

• 30 mins arrival & demo
• 1hr 15 min work period 
• 15 min clean-up 

Health & Safety - Students will need to wear closed-toed shoes, have long hair tied back, and avoid loose-fitting clothing which may get caught on items in the kiln yard. We are using Speedball underglazes for color, and health information can be found HERE.
